Biography | |
I was born in Nicosia, Cyprus and since the age of 10 I studied fine arts with one of the most famous Cypriot artists, Mr. Andreas Charalambous. For several years I had classes in drawing and painting. At the agef 21 I left Cyprus for the US to study geology at Macalester College with a Fulbright scholarship. At Macalester College I took several art classes and combined my love for geology with art - completing a degree with an art minor. This coming September, I am starting a PhD program at Stanford University in geology, but I plan to take more painting classes.
Throughout the years I loved painting landscapes - especially those of my home country Cyprus. The bright Mediterranean sun of Cyprus sheds endless light in the traditional villages and the crystal clear seas of the island, providing the perfect compositions for creative young artists like myself.
During my four years in college I experimented with painting imaginary landscapes and compositions that tend to have a surreal character. These experimentations gave fruit to some of my most enigmatic and didactic pieces which drew positive comments form my fellow artists at Macalester College. |
