Many years ago I have dabbled in other art mediums.
My career was in another type of art, constructing walk around characters for a couple of theme parks. Raising children and working drew me away from painting (other than walls).
Several years ago I decided to give watercolor painting a try. I always wanted to, but heard that it was so difficult and took years of schooling. It is different from the other mediums in that it sometimes has a mind of its own. Sometimes I think I have made a terrible mistake in a picture since the water can cause the paint to run all over. Self made wash or OOPS start over!
I am a self taught artist and love watercolor painting. I have been in a number of art shows locally and juried shows at the art center.
I have found in selling paintings that customers prefer to purchase the painting without being drymounted or matted. This way they can pick out how they want it to look in their own decor rather than paying extra for something which doesn't match what they have or the size not correct. |
