Statement
Art is the visual interpretation of the subconscious. My work is to convey visually events in my life and the emotional state I have experienced at the time. I use a variety of mediums, though my passion is photography. Composition, lighting, and depth are vital in my photography. I prefer black and white over color because I believe with color, viewers may become distracted and this will take away from the image and meaning behind the picture. I believe the work that is present in my portfolio hold the strongest emotion and captures beauty in what others may find dreary and depressing. ItâÂÂs slowing down life to an exact moment in history and being able to view it as time continues. Tragedy and beauty are the most common adjectives spoken about my work. I consider this to be accurate when describing my work. Though if you look closer, you can see more than just those descriptions. There is an ongoing story with each piece and each is a page to describe the current events going on in the world. When my photography is being viewed I hope the viewer is able to have an emotional reaction from my work, whether it is anger, sadness, or euphoric happiness. I hope people are able to learn from my work and see the possible results from their actions and do no act upon impulse. To me art is abstract and there is no accurate way to describe it. Art is my therapy, my passion. It helps me get through the rough times. ItâÂÂs being able to speak my opinion without having to open my mouth. ItâÂÂs an ongoing idea that is evolving and helps shape tomorrow for the next generation.
