Artist Anya Starr grew up in Issaquah, WA and spent most of her childhood either absorbed in fantasy novels or bringing to life the creatures she found there. It has often been said that she began drawing as soon as she was propped up against pillows with a crayon in her hand! When her uncle introduced her to the fantasy artwork of Boris Vallejo, she discovered a community of kindred spirits. Anya's interest in art and photography blossomed in college where she began taking formal studio classes. Although many indispensible techniques were acquired there, she found that the pure realism of studio art lacked the delicate element of romanticism. With sketchbook firmly in hand, Anya began her journey on the road of creative realism, allowing for unrestrained imagination.

Recent paintings have become more abstract, lending splendid colour and contrast to her work. Large scale abstract works have been commissioned by several local businesses and individual collectors. Anya is also available for commissioned portraits in Graphite, Charcoal and Carbon.
