Biography | |
My name is Daphna Dishi (30).
I am part Australian (father) and part Israeli (Mother). I have been living in Melbourne for the past 8 years. During that time I studied Fine Art at Monash University, Melbourne and continued on to study a Masters in Art-tharapy.
My Paintings are all oil paintings and reflect my internal journey through out my life. I use both abstract and realism in order to enhance this process. My latest paintings which I am exhibiting here express my connection with the Negev desert- the place where I grew up and spent most of my life. While living in Australia and being committed to my life here, I find myself constantly returning to the desert through my painting, by the use of color, shape and form. This journey enables me to fill the 'gap' that I feel between my present and my past. By revisiting the Negev in my paintings, I feel more complete within myself.
The desert also represents for me, a place where silence is rooted in the earth and there is a sense of deep peacefulness. Walking in the desert creates a feeling of unity with the earth, as we are one. The mysterious and deep encounter that I feel, is what draws me to it, and is what I am striving to achieve in my paintings. |
