Biography | |
Helmut Bischof, born 1955, lives in the black-forest at the river Rhine between Zürich and Basel. He studied painting with
Paul Haupt (1972 1975)
Manfred Noethen (1983 1985)
B. Beghee (1988 1995).
Helmut Bischof uses a special wax technology as the starting point of his graphic works. With this several layers of wax enriched with pigments are laid on a basic medium - usually paper - and cleared away step by step and again and again. The artwork develops during a permanent process of destruction and developing. This technology requires of the artist courage and confidence. Courage to give up the already reached success and confidence into the creation process. During this process of putting-on and clearing-away the wax, which is often repeated, a rhythm is formed, which is expressed in lines and forms.
Helmut Bischof discovered and developed this technology in 1989. With its assistance he is able to show growth-forms, basic elements of nature, which we understand in the chaos research as the organization forms of life. These basic forms are provided with human shapes, which represent prototypes of human life in their cultural variety - Egyptians, Greeks, figures of ancient mythology and figures of Wagners Siegfried. |
