I've been drawing and painting literally since I was in nappies. Apart from a few odd years spent trying to make a living (and stay sane) in various offices, I haven't really stopped.
The "calling" happened at school under the great Peter Dryland. My subsequent training was at Kingston Poly, as was, and The London College of Printing, which wasn't as posh as it sounds. Since 1983 I've been based in the south west ("I came for the light!") where I have worked as a designer, calligrapher and signwriter. One day, however, I woke up and smelled the turps and I've been painting almost exclusively in oils ever since.
I married a Celtic warrior queen and we have three children - one of whom is probably going to be a great sculptress. We have a daft dog and cats coming out of our ears.
Life is often hard, but few things are as cheering or gratifying as sending a painting through the post to somebody who has liked it enough to buy it. This has happened to me more through minigallery than any other exhibition medium. |
