Biography | |
I was born in Mira, Louisiana and I attended public schools in Southwest Oklahoma and Southwest Arkansas. I am the second oldest of eight children born to Judge Larry, Sr. and Daisie Lee Keel-Larry. My parents were strong role models and they greatly influenced my moral development and educational accomplishments. My mother always prompted me to keep trying and my father taught me to take responsibility for my decisions. He would often asked, What are you going to do? Jimmy Colton, a cousin, also encouraged me as a child. Jimmy got me interested in drawing before I could read or write. We had coal oil lamps for light and brown paper to draw on. However, it was not until I was in college and after my first art class that I first believed I could make a living in art. I earned a degree in art education and taught kindergarten through grade twelve for twenty-eight years. I am currently an instructor of public school art and other disciplines in the college of education at an institution of higher-education. |
