Biography | |
Pushing the envelope on colour, I explore the natural world as seen through my dreams and my memories. Immersed in vibrant color, the canvas begins to exhibit signs of life as the layers of oils are applied. Like the shifting skies in my skyscapes unexpected luminosity and subtle tonal changes guide the viewer into a realm of new possibilities. Conjuring up powerful skies in various motifs to create works that speak of apprehension and hope, time and loss. The light may be filtering through or it may be exploding over or from the chosen subject.
I use my training in the Renaissance techniques combined with an intrinsic intuition to produce works that stand-alone. The environmental issues dominate the works as they symbolize the dichotomy between the power and beauty of the natural world and its inherent fragility as we contaminate the air we breathe. My interest is in creating images that draw the viewer in and engages them in conversation.
Often replicated in theme or subject but never duplicated because of what comes from within, the elusive life each painting has. |
