Linda Preble McVay
Portrait Sculpture in Bronze
Linda Preble McVay is a portrait sculptor, known for capturing the expression on the faces of the women and children she sculpts. She has studied under Eugene Daub, Philippe Faraut, Christopher Gowell, and Cate Aichele. Lindas portrait sculpture has been exhibited in juried shows in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. She is represented by The Walsingham Gallery in Newburyport, MA. Linda lives in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and has a studio at Sanctuary Arts in Eliot, Maine.
Artists Statement
My concentration has been portrait busts and bas reliefs. Inspiration has come from Houdon, Carpeaux, McCartan and Grafly. Although some of my work is life-size, I have also created smaller busts for display on mantels, bookshelves and table tops. My goal is to capture the expression in the moment that is both familiar and appealing.
