Painting is my way of slowing down the frenetic pace of life- it's an opportunity to take the time to look closely at whatever image or object I have chosen to portray. Color and stroke and composition are my language, and I am always excited to share my interpretation. The most fulfilling aspect of my work occurs when there is a connection between a finished painting and the viewer who finds it deeply moving.

I stay "close to home" with my images, using family members and friends as models in my figurative work. When I wander away from home- to locales like Monhegan Island, I always stay in Maine- the rich landscape and interesting people are a veritable treasure trove of subject matter. It is no wonder that Maine has been a destination for artists for so many years.
