Ruth Coughlin captures the essence of the scenes she paints en plein air with a stunning color palette and decisive brush stroke. New England offers her a never ending source of inspiration and subject matter. A native of Massachusetts and a current resident of Maine, Ruth paints the world as she knows and loves it, passingon a sense of comfort and contentment to the people who view it.

Her studies have included training with professional painters: Sam Sargent, Ron Straka, and the late Enrico Donati; she is a graduate of the New York School of Interior Design.

Ms. Coughlin has a strong following and her work is enthusiastically collected. She participates in regional art competitions and shows her work in several New England galleries.
