Born October1,1909 in Rockford, Illinois, Ted spent the first six years of his life near Rockford until his father moved the family of six children to St.Joseph, Michigan.
During the Depression years, Ted attended the Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts. He studied design, drawing and painting under the renown John Carroll and was the recipient of the Edmund Jerry Scholarship. It was also during this period that Diego Rivera was commissioned to paint the wails at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Ted watched in awe as the murals unfolded but in disbelief as public criticism was leveled against Rivera.
After serving his country during World War II, Ted established his own commercial art business in St. Joseph, Michigan. Throughout his career, Ted has had his paintings accepted in many juried art shows. In addition, the Elkhart Mid-Amercian Museum of Art in Elkhart, Indiana and the Kal-Haven Art Center located in the Kal-Haven Depot in Bloomingdale, Michigan have added a painting by Ted to their permanent collections. Ted's paintings have also toured with the Indiana Woman's Caucus for Art Traveling Competition Exhibition 1986 and the Vintage Artists of Michigan 1987-1988 Traveling Exhibition. |
