Welcome to the world of Artzuberance. Artzuberance is the brainchild of Tess Schlesinger, an artist who has spent two decades perfecting an art style that is both unique and brimming with personality.
Her art takes a quirky look at the world, teasing reality with gentle humor, while depicting the world from a different point of view. Each piece is an interpretation of various aspects of life, combining diverse elements in order to produce an original masterpiece. The viewer is both enticed and enchanted.
Born to a German father and an Afrikaans mother in South Africa, her experiences in a multi-cultural environment shaped her outlook. Her early years exposed her to bare breasted women threading colorful beads in kraals, shamans dancing the gumboot dance on the grounds of the gold-mining compounds, the natural beauty of pristine beaches in northern Zululand, the death defying peaks and chasms of the Outeniqua Mountain pass, and the howl of hyena at night in the Kruger National Park. There were also perfect summer days spent investigating rock pools and building sand castles on shell-packed beaches.
Tess believes that while food feeds the body, information feeds the mind and love feeds the emotions, art feeds the soul. Her images have been created to nourish the soul. |
