Doherty, invited Valenti to appear in the nationally distributed publication. Thomas Valenti teaches at the Ridgewood Community School and he demonstrates/lectures and conducts workshops in watercolors to well attended art interest groups everywhere. He was guest speaker/demonstrator at the 2007 opening for Allied Artists of America's 94th Annual Juried Exhibition in December and in January 2008 for the opening of the Salmagundi Club's Juried Competition. Valenti is sought after as a Juror for many major art competitions. His works are in numerous private collections here and abroad. Public collections include, Rutgers University and the Lipton Tea Company, who commissioned the artist to paint a series of watercolors depicting the America's Cup Races in Newport, Rhode Island. Thomas Valenti was born and raised in the South Bronx, NY. He has lived in Washington Township, Bergen County, NJ for the past 30 years. Valenti graduated from the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art as a Fine Art major but is for the most part self-taught. His inspiration and motivation comes from the belief that beauty is everywhere in everything. The artist states, âGrowing up in the South Bronx has had a profound affect on my life and the way I view the world. I am at home in any urban setting. There is something special about the way light plays upon the surfaces of concrete, stone, steel and blacktop. Shadows that seem to come from nowhere creating the most interesting design patterns. By not living in the city, I have a completely objective point of view toward city life. I'm not affected by the hustle and bustle of everyday occurrences. This forces me to draw from childhood memories which are as clear as day. So I am in effect painting as if from the eyes of a childâ.
