Biography | |
Trish McKinney is an award winning artist whose work is featured in private collections all over the United States and Europe. She is an exhibiting member of the National Watercolor Society, the International Society of Experimental Artists, the Western Ohio Watercolor Society and the Ohio Watercolor Society.
Trish attended Louisiana Tech University, where she majored in Art Education and Graphics Design. She then went on to become a Graphics Illustrator for the United States Army, proudly serving her country for eight years. Trish has been teaching watercolors since 1995 and painting professionally since 1989. Her wish is to communicate her message through the use of aqueous media and to also share this message through teaching. Trish describes herself as a "messenger of color" and her style is graphic, bold, and colorful. Intersting shapes, emotional color, and the relationship we hold with world around us is what intriques this artist the most.
Her mixed media pieces speak of spontaneity and sheer joy.
Her transparent watercolors speak of stories that need to be told.
Emulating the Creator is what connects them.
A former resident of Charleston, South Carolina, the artist now lives in Ohio with her husband and three children. Part of her spirit is still in the South Carolina Low country, which still inspires many of her paintings.
"I shut my eyes in order to see" is one of her favorite quotes because it reminds her of how it all started for her...imagination.
On a final note - an artist is only as wonderful as the community of artists who hold them up. Featured below are 3 of the many artists who do this for me. I both honor and prize them. There have been many more along my journey as an artist as well.... |
