Wayne Harris has always been color conscious. The brighter the color the more interested he becomes. He hardly ever wears sunglasses because they cut out the amazing spectrum of color that the world around us offers.

His painting began six years ago with the walls of his home, six different colors in one room. Then bright colored stepping stones in his patio and even painted the brick retaining wall brigt colors. Friends thought he crazy but most later liked what he did. Then he moved on to canvas.

Every one of his paintings is unique and special to him. He says it bothers him when his favorites sell. Each is "an act of love". They are all original ideas and hand painted. His unique view of the world definately shines throuth every painting. His use of flourscent or bright colors is his way of showing you what he sees. A world of amazing beauty and color.

Mr. Harris's studio is in Palm Springs, California: still a backyard for many of Hollywood's famous personalities. Palm Springs is one of the major scenes for contemporary and modern artists and architects. Not limited to any one style, Mr. Harris develops his own ideas, which do not always agree with that that is recognized in the art community. Those who view his work marvel at Mr. Harris's bold use of bright, fluorescent and metallic paints. His work stands out in any room it occupies.

One more comment:: Until now the only thing Mr. Harris knew about Vincent Van Gogh was that he cut off his ear. He is now getting comments re the similarity of his work and that of Van Gogh's. As Van Gogh did, he uses thick (impasto), broad brush strokes, applies heavy layers of paint, At times gestural procedures. All of the 18 Sunflowers that Mr. Harris has done to date, they all include the blue iris flowers. Look at one of Van Gogh's most famous works, "Iris's" and see the similarities.
