STATEMENT
When I was a young child, I was always creating something. Whether it was homemade jewelry, art, or gifts for others, I loved to make things. Reaching adulthood however, I decided to go to college and major in Marketing. Receiving my associates degree, my plans were to get a job in a related field, but even though I love business, it seemed like there was something missing
Several years ago, I decided to try painting.. To my surprise, I finished two nice acrylic paintings, and I loved it! A friend told me about a lady who taught watercolor painting, so I took some lessons and I was hooked!
My favorite subjects to paint are still life. Most of my inspiration comes from nature. There are just some things that stand out more than others. If I am really excited about painting a piece, I cant wait to get started on it. Like the Summer Cannas painting, I sketched that at my home in a few sessions. Then, while I was working inside painting it, I would have the live flowers in a vase, so that I could get the color perfect. It was definitely something that I looked forward to working on everyday.
Watercolor is a wonderful medium. I apply the water to the paper, and then the colors just come alive as they spread across it. You cant beat the brilliance of a watercolor painting. I have tried other mediums, like oil and acrylic, and I still enjoy painting with them, but watercolor is my favorite. Some of my influence comes from other watercolor painters. I like to incorporate other styles into my own, but ultimately everyone develops their own style
