Biography
Adrienne Risby is a female African American Artist. Her studio is located in Peoria, IL. at the Contemporary Art Center. She is a self-taught artist. Not quite fitting the category of outsider art. She has been told she is too fine tuned. Her philosophy is to "Paint what makes you happy! And has been told she is "Prolific! When she is painting." Her specialty is people. She does people in any medium. She is mainly a portrait artist but in the last few years she has been drawn to figurative and abstract art. It is less restrictive than portraits. Working with acrylics with bold color. She has attended many art shows and has sold many paintings. Being disabled, she says that it has helped her to use her art as a way to distract her from pain.
