Ana was born in 1947 in São Paulo, Brazil, where she still lives and works.
Ana Goldberger did not take a specific and structured course in art: she had drawing lessons from Yolanda Mohalyi, among others; she learned metal engraving techniques at the Atelier de Gravura with Selma Daffré and Branca de Oliveira; she went regularly to Antonio Vitor’s atelier to improve her painting skills; she took classes in History of Western Art from Herbert Duschenes; she attended the Cinema course at the ECA / USP. In many areas of the visual arts she is self-taught.
In art related areas, her activities range from graphic arts (book covers, Christmas cards, logos, etc.) to translations (of books on art, architecture, essays, exhibition catalogues and the like).
As to the specific issue of the visual arts, Ana made tapestries (she had exhibitions in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Paris and took part in the II Triennial of Tapestry in the Museum of Modern Art in São Paulo); she draws and has created woodcuts, metal engravings and lithographs, but her main activity is and has always been painting.
Mentioned in national and international catalogues, her works belong to private collectors in Brazil and abroad. There are galleries in São Paulo and Paris showing her works continuously. |
