Biography | |
Abi Cushman is an American animal artist currently residing in the north of England. She has studied art at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Melbourne University, and Tufts University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and Studio Art.
Abis wild animal paintings are on permanent display at the Childrens Museum of Southeastern Connecticut, located in her hometown of Niantic. Her illustrations have been published in Nucleus (a publication of the Union of Concerned Scientists), Charlesbridge Publishing's student workbooks, and greeting cards by Sharper Images.
In her art, Abi generally focuses on the animals eyes because she believes eyes play a significant role in setting the mood of a piece. While she enjoys working in a wide variety of styles and mediums, one common theme in her art is the extensive layering and building of color.
