My short(!) autobiography
I was born in the year of 1972 in Bakirköy, Istanbul. I spent my childhood in an one-room flat with my mother, brother, grandfather, grandmother and with my old dependent grand-grandmother who lived 6 months of the year with us. I have a lot of memories belonging to these years. I did not forget the happiness I felt when it was snowing, my teachers, the two pots standing in the kitchen full of candies and chocolates, the seaman's meals and the umaci soups of my grandmother which she cooked on the stove, the made-up stories including also the cock Rasim told by my grandfather, my grand-grandmother's medicaments which even herself had no idea which one of them cured which illness which she however took a handful in the hope to lengthen her life for some years.
My brother was a smart and different child interested in cartoons, books and encyclopaedias and in other fields. The Girgir Comic Magazine, which he bought every week, introduced me to cartoons. Therefore I owe a great deal to my brother in this respect. We never missed to buy the Abdülcanbaz albums of the great artist Turhan Selçuk or various cartoons.
After a time we decided to draw cartoons by ourselves. The product of a careful work "The boy who rescues the world" written by my brother and drawn by myself was emerged thereafter. Nowadays a very classical theme. The adventures of a brave boy rescuing the world which is under threat of extraterrestrials... It would have been good if I had kept this sketches beside others.
After the secondary and the high school I studied Archaeology and History of Art in Istanbul University. I having also other interests then drawing never regretted graduating from this department. I liked mythology, prehistoric findings, potteries and antique tools of stone...
During my first class in the University I gathered my first cartoons to bring them to Leman Comic Magazine and to take the cartoonists' opinions. After my first cartoons were published I continued to draw with greater enthusiasm and my drawings improved within a short time.
Two years later I started to draw for the Pismis Kelle Comic Magazine. Pismis Kelle was an important Comic Magazine for which great authors and cartoonist worked. In the same years I started to draw for the Pazartesi Woman Magazine.
Although I planed to take my master's degree in the field of museum study and become a research assistant I got into the world of the cartoonists. Full employment or free-lance workings in various newspapers

For a while I designed the book covers of Cumhuriyet Publishing and drew illustrations for books. At the moment I work for the Cumhuriyet Newspaper and make drawings for children's books and illustrations and designs for book covers for several publishings.
I make endless and several plans, take notes of them, and cross out the realized ones. Then I make a new list of plans concerning my work and my life.
