Dayle Ann Clavin is a native californian who has spent
the last 20 years in Europe, originally studying music,
then following a career as teacher of the flute and chamber
music musician, In more recent years she has worked as a
fine art photographer. She discovered her love for photography
in the early 90s, and worked intensly in black and white, inspired
by the technical possibilities of the zone system of Ansel Adams
and the images of legendary photographers of the early 1900s.
During this time, numerous images were published in the well known
german magazine PHOTOGRAHIE and her work was exhibited in
Austria, including the Nikon Gallery in Vienna, Panoptikum Gallery
of the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Obershützen;
The Stadt Gallery of Bad Ausee, The Anton Bruckner Center; Euregio
Gallery of Schloss Weinburg, Aschach Castle , and The 44iger House
in Linz.Several of her images appear in the book by Martin Sigrist
entitled Von der Idee zum Bild published by Laterna Magica in 2001.
In the same year, she was a prize winner in the international
competition sponsored by the Neue Galerie of the City of Linz,
entitled Neighbors. A year later she completed a slide show visualization
of a composition by Thomas Doss Tempting Land for jazz band which
has been performed extensively around Austria. In 2001 she recieved
her diploma from the Prager Fotoschule graduating in fine art photography
with honors. In 2002 her work was included in the Gallery of San Miguel
de Allende, Mexico, under the title Texas Fotofest Discoveries 2002.
More recently, her photographs were shown as a portfolio In the
spanish photography magazine Fotografia Actual of Barcelona
(issue Dec.2003/ Jan. 2004 }. In March 2004,her self-portrait
photos were among the winners in the competition Self- portrait
sponsored by the portuguese photographers association Pontos de Vista.
