First I'm from Slovenia (that's near Italy & Austria), 26 years old.
About 4 years ago I started painting. Mostly I have painted for the church (black & white portraits -- Bach, Mozart Nostradamus...). It was a great time, but in my country it was hard to promote my art -- some people think you are automatically bad without an "academic degree".
Like many other artists, I have tried to learn from the masters (and I am still learning), like Da Vinci, Picasso and my favorite master of light -- Rembrandt.
Today, we live in the digital age; and digital art is also interesting to me. Graphics programs give you an opportunity to be an artist, without artistic talent; but if you do have artistic talent (and if you are using great software and know all the tricks) you will be able to create even better pictures.
I love the words from Martina Shapiro "I believe that an artist transfers some of his/her life energy into an original painting" and from Doug Drenkow "I think our life experiences are important in making us who we are as artists."
My journey as an artist is just at the beginning; I have much to learn.
