George Gospodinov
George was born in Pazardjik, Bulgaria which is located in Eastern Europe. Art is part of his life since George was a little child. Inspired by the music his grandfather played to him, George was drawing and winning prize after prize at exhibitions at local galleries. George has graduated from the most prestigious art school at that time in Pazardjik called ESPU âGeorgi Bregovâ. George was the best young artist not only among his classmates but also among the young talents in the whole region. The time for George to move on came and he spent one year as an intern at the National Art Academy in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria and under the guidance of his teacher Rumen Nechev succeeded to improve his skills and have more specific direction of his talent â the graphics. Like all young men George had to join the army (every Bulgarian man was required to serve 2 years in the army back in the years of communism) and even separated from the artistic environment and forced to learn what was like to be a soldier, George did not give up the art and kept working on improving his talent. Young and alder people enjoyed his work and other artist found it inspiring for their work. George went though many and different life paths, trying to find his place where he would be most satisfied and grateful of what he was creating. Although, George had happy and fulfilling life, he was feeling unexplained emptiness. Finally he found his life path and immigrated with his family to USA in May of 2005. It was a rough new beginning of his life but exciting, too. Before George and his family settled down in Philadelphia, they lived in New Jersey where George drew inspiration from the great waters of the endless ocean and the greatness of the surrounding landscapes. Deep inside Georgeâs soul and spirit looked for place full of dynamics and variety that soon enough George could not find in New Jersey. Tired of the silence and the open fields, George and his family decided to move to Philadelphia - the place he was looking for his whole life. There he found the busy urban life and the rich culture, on the other hand. George felt he was born again and his inspiration brought him and his work to you today. George is thankful for your time and appreciation of his art. |
