Biography | |
As a child, Loretta Hamilton was always drawing. In high school, her dream was to attend The School of the Art Institute in Chicago. However, that was not to be and upon graduation from high school she went to work in a downtown Chicago business in their Human Resources Department. Eventually, while continuing to work, she went to college and earned her BS from Roosevelt University with a major in Business/Human Resources. During this time, Hamilton pursued other creative outlets in her spare time as a means to satisfy her deep artistic passion.
Eventually she returned to her calling by taking a watercolor class at a local junior college. That class, along with a workshop sponsored by the Naperville Art League (of which she is a member) helped to reinforce her dedication for creating art. Finally in 2006, after attending a few art fairs during the summer, Hamilton was both inspired and determined to finally follow her dreams of long ago.
Hamiltonâs inspiration to draw her charcoal nude series was born following a search for art to hang in her own home. After browsing through galleries and not finding what she wanted, she decided to draw her own. Hamiltonâs other passion (buying and selling antiques) helped her to find interesting ways to frame the works and her vintage-framed figure art evolved.
Hamilton lives in Naperville, Illinois and in Naples, Florida.
