Mila Samokhina was born in Tallinn, Estonia and moved to Chicago in 1994 with her family. She has a degree in engineering from Tallinn, Estonia; degree in Gemology from Moscow, Russia; and certification in Jewelry Design from Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, California.
Although the majority of her professional time and energy has been focused on a world of gemstones and jewelry, nothing has provided her greater access to self expression like camera. Milaâs photography explores Flora through the lens and her imagination often with extreme points of view emphasizing the intensity and complexity of nature beauty. While some of her photography is quite literal, others allow the viewer to form their own interpretation of what these images represent and what feelings they convey.
