MARTIN BROWN

British designer Martin Brown , began his professional career in Great Britain ( after finshing his Bachelor of Arts studies at Winchester School of Art and receiving the I:B:M travel award) , working as a textile designer in collaboration with such fashion houses as Issey Miyake, Oscar de La Renta and Christian Dior as well as being the principal designer for the Burton Retail Group.

In 1984 , Martin Brown worked on a publicity campaign for Shiseido and in 1989 designed the interior of the Dragon Café in Tokyo.

In 1990 he moved to Mexico,where he created mural decorations for the fashion stores Carlo de Michelis, textile designs for the company Bye-Bye and graphic work for political parties, the National Lottery and tourism organizations.

His work can be seen in public spaces such as the restaurants;” Cicero Centenario”, “Ixchel” and “Sushi Itto” in Mexico City, “Tamayo “in Palm Beach and Denver .

In 1998, he opened the avantgarde homestore “ HACKING & BROWN”, in
Mexico City,with partner Tina Hacking,showing his own line of furniture,ceramics andcarpets, at the same time promoting the work of other designers.

He has completed numerous commissions for private residences in Acapulco,Cancun,Cuernavaca, Mexico City and Puerto Vallarta , in Mexico: ,New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami and Austin in the Unitied States as well as in France, Great Britain ,Italy and Switzerland.

His work has been exhibited indvidually ,as well as collectively in the
GALERIA MEXICANA DE DISEÑO,GALERIA, GALILEO 100 and MUSEO SAN CARLOS, in México D.F.,as well as la GALERÍA SAL Y PIMIENTA , Madrid and Barcelona, and has been featured in interior design magazines, such as“ELLE DECOR” ,“METROPOLITAN HOME”, “”Nuevo Estilo”, and ”Diseño Interior”.
His work has also been used in“Absolut Vodka” publicity campaigns , in México.

In 2003, Martin Brown moved to Barcelona,where he has continued to work on private commissions and a series of panels , based on the city.




Martin Brown has worked for well known clients such as Versace,Cartier,Neiman Marcus, Citibank. and his work forms part of the Collection Azcarraga ,the Gelman Collection and the Foundation Miguel Aleman,in Mexico and the Collection Von Bismark, in Marbella,Spain and created a series of sculptures for a gala dinner in the Casa Batlló, Barcelona.

His designs are a unique hybrid of classical,baroque,neo-mexican,retro and
avantgarde styles to produce a highly original use of the centuries old mosaic technique.
Each piece combines the highest of modern production standards,with the finest of craftmanship , using Talavera ceramic, Byzantine and cut glass mosaic.

His designs can be adapted to mirrors, murals, tables, bathrooms, swimming pools , floors, corporate logos and range from one-of-a-kind pieces to small production items.
