Mutlu Ertac, born in Izmir, Turkey on November 5,1961.He graduated from Istanbul Technical University with Electronics Engineering degree in 1982.
Although he has a scientific background, Mutlu has been involved with different forms of art from an early age. He gained a certain reputation for his caricatures in middle school, and he showed interest in watercolor in high school.
He started painting in oil in 1983.He was influenced with surrealist art in the beginning, his favorite artist was Salvador Dali at that time, later on, he was influenced by impressionist and post- impressionist art and painters...
He has moved to United States in 1990, and continued painting, after he moved to California with his family, he has been involved with Laguna Beach art environment, and there, he met with Vincent Farrell who is a very well known plein-air artist who was also Sergei Bongard's student in his early career years. Mutlu studied under Vincent Farrell for the last 3 years.
The distinctive, broad strokes of color on canvas serve as his signature style. His colors are harmoniously arranged, seeking simplicity and pure shimmering of light and color in his paintings.
Mutlu Ertac resides in Newport Beach, California with his wife and their 3 year old twin daughters. |
