Biography | |
I'm a mom, child poverty activist and artist. Okay, mostly just a mom. You can see all the things I love reflected in my work -- history, politics, gardening and parenting. As well as the issues in the world that are a great concern to me -- homelessness, human rights and poverty. I'm a Catholic, a Christian, so my art often takes on a religious life of its own. What a blessing to be able to express my heart through something as simple as canvas and paint.
My favorite artist is Georgia O'Keeffe. Perhaps, I relate to her as a woman -- perhaps an artist. This quote from one of her art teachers, Arthur Wesley Dow, became the foundation of her art.
'That which anybody can do, is not worth doing. If your drawing is just like your neighbor's it has no value as art.'
I too feel that artists should always strive to paint something different, something that has never been seen before. So, I hope that at the very least you find my art unique. |
