Razvan Duta  was born in Constanta, Romania,  in 1977. He studied Fine Art at Ovidiu School of Art from 1992 to 1996 graduating with a Bachelor of Arts .

Working from his studio  he has exhibited work in galleries in Constanta, Bacau, Bucharest and London. He has sold paintings to public and corporate collections as well as to private collectors in the United Kingdom and Romania.

I began experimenting with paints and pastels 15 years ago, following them, listening to them, allowing my own style to emerge. Only years later did I teach myself to draw. The name I use on my artwork, BRAD, 'arrived' with my style.

Interpretation and Expression

I am told my interpretation of natural phenomena is unique, surprising, confident and unpredictable.  My paintings not only encapsulate the essential elements, colours and features of a particular place, but also recreate the ambience and the ‘feel’ of being there.

Typically, I try to create images that are exuberant, highly original, vibrant and eye-catching.  Most pieces are charged with positive energy, richly textured and overflow with dazzling colour.  Other pieces are soft, meditative and introspective.

My aim is to provide enjoyment and relaxation so as to counter the stresses of everyday life.

Inspiration

My main inspiration is Nature and the unique landscapes of romanian seashore: in particular wilderness areas, wetlands, deserts and the unspoilt countryside.

The Romania`s unique geography, specialised fauna and flora are my favourite and recurrent themes.

Artistic Influences

When considering which modern artists most influenced me, I must say I most admire Kandinsky’s sense of composition and exuberance, Van Gogh’s use of colour and intensity to stir up emotions, Paul Klee’s sensitivity and insight into our inner beings, and Picasso’s inventiveness and broad range of interests.  I also love the work of Paul Cezanne, Monet, Turner and Jackson Pollock.
