Biography
"My paintings are the result of a life long interest in color, geometric shapes, and the reality of the coexistence of man and nature."

David Bush was born at the end of 1945 and was raised on a farm in rural eastern Kansas where he learned to appreciate the beauty of nature. In 1969, he graduated with a degree in engineering and had a long career in the electronics industry. During this time he enjoyed painting as a hobby. He retired from engineering in 2004 and has pursued his passion for painting since then.

His earlier paintings typically featured abstract combinations of three dimensional shapes and optical illusions reminiscent of the works of artists like Vasserly and Warhol. Most of these paintings were done with acrylics to take advantage of their quick drying and capability to make hard edges.

Recent paintings have combined several mediums to take advantage of their best features, but also reflect the fact that our world consists of both natural and man made beauty. He recently has begun using graphics software to enhance some of his works and create more variety in his art prints.

"Typically, I have tended to use the oil medium for the natural elements of my paintings and acrylics for the man-made elements. This combination enables the vibrant colors of natural features such as sunsets, trees, and mountains to coexist on paintings with the straight lines and hard edges found on man-made objects.

I have also used other mediums and techniques such as airbrush to add interest and dimension to some of my works.

I believe this combination of mediums allows my paintings to more accurately reflect the complexity of the world we live in."

Thank you for your interest!

A 20th century style of painting in which nonrepresentational lines, colors, shapes, and forms replace accurate visual depiction of objects, landscape, and figures. The subjects often stylized, blurred, repeated or broken down into basic forms so that it becomes unrecognizable. Intangible subjects such as thoughts, emotions, and time are often expressed in abstract art form.
