Biography
Each stroke of his paintbrush provides a strong fidelity to the native environment. There is not a devotion to universal Beauty, but to poetry of a common leaf trembled by the wind, a rivers currents grass morning mist on water and drifting clouds in a blue sky. He does not simply analyze the environment in a detailed manner. Through a marginal and ordinary fact, the painter reveals the visual divinity of Russian landscape that always deeply touches a spectator. Andrei Gerasimov is a painter who sees Russian fields and homely circumstances as an embodiment of the universal beauty and truth.
