Biography

I am a retired professional photographer and writer published world-wide in scores of national magazines and newspapers. Nearly all of my art is grounded in my photography and is published as signed and numbered lithographs and giclees. My favorite technique is to produce art on fine rice paper. This has the effect of rendering beautiful and soft pastel colors. I am unaware of any other artists using this technique, probably owing to the extreme difficulty of working with the rice paper which is very thin and flimsy. The edges of the rice paper is t torn by hand and mounted on museum-quality art paper. Finally, the print is numbered and signed. Every print is shipped with a certificate of authenticity, and I keep all editions under 100 to enhance the purchase value. I am fortunate to also own a small custom frame manufacturing facility. Accordingly, I can offer the appropriate framing, fillet, and matting for any order. Custom framing is not inexpensive, but using our facility is usually 30-40% less expensive than if you used your local frame shop. Unfortunately, framed art, including glass, requires more robust packaging. As a result, your shipping cost will increase as well. Contact me for an estimate for any framing or matting order. All art is created in sizes that will fit standard frame measurements. Orders for art only is shipped in stiff tubes and usually expedited within 24 hours. I also offer custom or commissioned art services. I have created many giclees and one-of-a-kind collages from personal or family photographs. Contact me for prices.

An art movement founded in France in the last third of the 19th century. Impressionist artists sought to break up light into its component colors and render its ephemeral play on various objects. The artist's vision was intensely centered on light and the ways it transforms the visible world. This style of painting is characterized by short brush strokes of bright colors used to recreate visual impressions of the subject and to capture the light, climate and atmosphere of the subject at a specific moment in time. The chosen colors represent light which is broken down into its spectrum components and recombined by the eyes into another color when viewed at a distance (an optical mixture). The term was first used in 1874 by a journalist ridiculing a landscape by Monet called Impression - Sunrise.
