Biography | |
Michael Woodard is a self-taught marine artist who creates contemporary nautical scenes based on his own experience. He developed an interest in boats as a teenager through his active participation in a Sea Scout program in the San Francisco Bay area. Michael is a 1981 graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York. The artist served as a crew member aboard several U.S. flag merchant ships, including serving as the Assistant Engineer aboard the Space Shuttle booster recovery ship Liberty Star from 1982 to 1985. He is a member of the American Society of Marine Artists and the International Society of Marine Painters. He sells limited-edition prints of his paintings through his marine art business, named Mariner Graphics. More of his work can be viewed by visiting his web site at www.MarinerGraphix.com.
