Biography | |
The artist has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Rhode Island School of Design. She also studied at the Art Students League in New York and Parsons School of Design. Wendy now lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two children. Before painting full time, she was the owner and designer of an apparel company and was represented in stores across the country and overseas as well as in magazines. Ironically, she now paints female nudes. The artist also works on commissoned female nudes/portraits.
"My work reflects who we are: nude, beautiful, alive. It is about truth, strength, grace and the miracle of life. The pieces are stripped of extraneous elements there is nothing else in the picture. There is no story presenting a pure beauty."
She purposely places the subject dead-center on each canvas stripping away any notion of composition. Therefore the focus is evident - in this way they are new, but painted with the integrity of the Old Masters. The paintings show a certain strength yet are a graceful view of life that contrasts greatly with our hectic ways. It is not a vast exploration of all ideals of beauty, but it is a focused look at life that has emerged from personal experiences regarding life and death and religious questions.
All work is signed MCCAULEY. All original work is painted in oil on stretched canvas. The fine art giclee archival reproductions are now available in signed, numbered canvases in limited editions. |
