| Biography | |
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1935 and painter since she's been 4, Alba came to this world with a great vocation and opened her eyes near to the south neighbor (a place characterized for the afro oriental folklore called "Candombe") in which famous parades "Carnaval" and typical celebrations where taken by. There she observed this wonderful race amazed by their colorful customs and their incredible way of playing the drums with such a diverse range of characters that formed the exotic "Candombe". Since then she started to get involved with these culture, in which she is very well known for her artwork, making more than 150 expositions all over the world including places like: Argentina, Brasil, Belgium, France, Japan, Israel and Uruguay.
Since little she has assisted to classes for young artists, at the age of 7 she made her first exposition organized by her teacher Elsa Carrafi in which she gets a very good critic by the very well known Claudio Schaeffer. She continued her studies at the Montevideo Fine Arts University in which she got to learnt the refined details of her artwork.
During the following years she started to get interested in different cultures and art types. In 1985 she was invited to show her artwork in Israel in where she spends three months showing her artwork with big success in diverse subjects like typical Israeli dances.
Besides her artwork Alba published various articles on local newspapers, radio and tv receiving headlines like "Art to promote equality", "The blonde who paints the black", "paintbrush with love", between others. She also illustrated books like "the crystal labyrinth" from Aviva Ben Azar and did the artwork for different tango vinyls from Marisa Lamar.
With an extensive career and without any influences Alba is authentic and very personal. This biography resumes her beginnings, studies, expositions, and well-known friendships from the artistic and cultural world. She writes beautiful anecdotes from her interesting path getting to know the sensible human being.
