Biography
Sripad M Kulkarni, Born in Banglore in 1980, I graduated from Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath Bangalore in 2002 specialized in painting . While doing the course I always had Influence from various artists like late R M Hadpadh my first guru who opened my eyes in seeing paintings of great artist and showed me the right path in art, after few years I was more influenced with Ajanta frescos and Indian miniatures paintings and water colour was my faveriate media and started experimented more on it and started exploding in mix media, acrylics etc After some time one more guru artist by name DH Kulkarni who was more experienced in batik used as paintings where he was replicating the Ajanta frescos I learned a lot of techniques from him ant started working in that medium later after few months I stated doing landscpes of Indian historic places like Badami Ihole and various places of using batik as a medium. Batik is a very huge process where we retain colurs by applying wax and very tedious process it needs lot of time and physical hard work to complete it compare to all medium this my journey started in painting and still lot of things which I need to explore. My philosophy "There is an anguished being, disturbed, and in distress, somewhere deep inside me; a human being who yearns for a meaningful existence. It is the human presence that arouses my attention and stirs my creative inner space." "There has to be a certain freshness and newness in one's art, otherwise it's pointless to pursue it. To be different means doing something you have never done before." "What humans have not seen with their eyes, they see through their habits." My drawings form a fitting introduction to his paintings, revealing the predilection of the artist for forms: forms that are consist in terms of tone rather than line. Carefully expresses the textural effects of crayons, pastels and pencil using the combination of highlights and depths of passages built of varying intensities of line. I explores the possibilities of water colour as a medium and can depict the exact quality. I had also achieved mastery over the capturing of the quality of light, an effect that lends his work a superb realism as well as an enigmatic quality. I love of cinema had a lot to do with this.
