Artist Statement
How can I appreciatively and critically examine the world that I live in? Traditionally, Nature has been consulted for insight to this question. It's possible that nature has shaped humans and is a likeness of and a pathway to the subconscious, near distance. I find nature an approach. I ask myself how to combine the human figure and nature in my sculpture. I have a need to see that, to see humans shaped toward completeness. I have a need to see a sculpture that shows that shape.

There are many questions to ask as I am making a sculpture. Often they are about relevance. How does it feel to be alive today? I following the questions. When I follow what catches my attention as I examine a question, I am attracted to what holds answers and insights. What I’m attracted to, I put into the work. This is what is key, I believe, to make the work a document of discovery and an invitation to you to participate.
