Biography
Carrie Glenn was born in Salem, Oregon. After many years of traveling across the U.S. she has returned to her home state. As a child, she spent hours upon hours fine tuning her painting and portrait skills. She was born with an aptitude and ability to capture the true emotion and depth found in her artwork. Carrie’s creative skills led her to develop a realistic technique using mixed media that has become her trademark. Carrie is currently producing art in Portland, Oregon. She has a partnership with the March of Dimes, Portland, OR Chapter. She donates artwork to bring in top dollars for their “Signature Chef Auction” every year. Her artwork has also been shown and donated with the March of Dimes, Seattle, WA Chapter’s, “Celebrity Chef Auction” which created quite a stir in 2005; it also raised an excellent amount for their charity events. Her work has been juried into numerous art shows throughout the NW such as the “Ocean Shores Fine Art show” and the “Lake Oswego Festival of Arts”. She was juried into the “Artists of the NW” coffee table book, which will be published end of 2007 beginning of 2008, with great anticipation. She has won many awards for her work, including the “Honorable Mention Award” from renowned Professor and artist, Robert Feasly. She has been commissioned for corporate artwork and public installations for entities such as “London Fog”, “Horizon Air” and “Thomasville Furniture”. She is also currently working on illustrating and authoring several children’s books in the local Portland area. Her artwork can be found throughout the United States and Quebec.

Artists Statement:

I enjoy creating bold artwork that moves people. Most of the artwork I create I have seen in a dream, or it is something that enthralls me from life or nature. I really pour my energy, my feelings and a bit of myself into every piece I create, to hopefully leave a fingerprint of myself in my work and maybe on a person or two. Because of this I believe my artwork holds a type of life and that this creates a special, personal experience between my viewers it. I like to keep it simple and heartfelt; I create what I love, color, boldness and captivating scenes that I hope captivate others as well.
A style of painting which depicts subject matter (form, color, space) as it appears in actuality or ordinary visual experience without distortion or stylization. In a general sense, refers to objective representation. More specifically, a nineteenth century movement, especially in France, that rejected idealized academic styles in favor of everyday subjects. Daumier, Millet, and Courbet were realists.
