Biography
“If I have to describe my work, I would say that it oscillates between universal timelessness and personal intimacy”.

As a fine artist, my work has always been of a feminist nature. From the cooking pot to the post-modern vessel, woman has shared a special relation with fired clay. This close rapport that ceramics shares with woman has provoked my choice of this medium. I personally believe that there is something very intimate about clay and its familiarity enables it to cross from the private domain into the public sphere. Ceramics is experienced in the everyday life as either a functional or a precious object, hence perceived as very domestic and non-threatening. My attempt is to challenge this notion of functionality and domesticity. Personally I feel that the vessel stands for a powerful cross-cultural symbol and a strong medium for creating meaning.
Clays hardened by fire were the first ceramic, and remain one of the cheapest and most widely used materials to produce even in the present day.
