Biography | |
Tad Anderson is an award-winning landscape designer, self-taught photographer, and self-taught digital artist, with an ongoing practice and studio in Minnetonka, Minnesota (USA).
"I began my landscape design career in 1974 and my camera and tripod have always been at my side, throughout my design process -- first, alongside traditional drafting, rendering, and painting tools -- these days, alongside my digital rendering tools. My love of, and fascination with, beautiful plant structure and botanical architecture, has led me to study horticultural specimens, photographically, for thirty years. My studies are abstract viewpoints; form and structure studies; color studies; seasonal studies; and compositional studies. I strive for a natural harmony, an ordered balance, and a color vibrancy in my botanical compositions -- inspired by the intricacies of the plant form itself. To me, these abstracts are an homage to Nature -- a celebration of the beauty that Nature provides for us."
"But, these are not pictures or paintings of pretty plants and flowers. The botanical photo study is first integrated into my abstract digital assemblages, then digitally painted. The art work is constructed of 20-25 codependent layers, then blended, montaged, and rendered as the final ("flattened") artwork, for giclee output on archival paper. I hope you enjoy these botanical abstracts, displayed on your walls, as much as I have enjoyed creating them!" |
