Gagik Manoukian was born on April 20, 1952 in Yerevan, Armenia. In 1976 he finished his studies at the Terlemezyan Art Institute. Since 1982, a member of the Association of Artists of Armenia.
The art of the painter Gagik Manoukian originates from the roots of Armenian art and culture, but his independent creative activities also reflects best traditions of Armenian avant-garde, especially Martiros Sarjans dramatic sense form and colors. Manoukian adopted with virtuosity the experience of modern art, including cubism, expressionism, and consepts of world abstract art.
Manoukians work shows a range various styles. Since the beginning of his career, he has been inspired by female beauty, depicting intimate compositions of female psychology in rich colors.
In his figurative and still-life themes, landscapes and lyrical abstract compositions, their colors being full of sun and most of all he likes to analyze light in a colored material. His style is unique for its fluent transitions color tones with inner contrasts, thus forming dynamic composition of painting. Manoukian likes unrestrained painting in bright colors, often making experiments.
His work is deep-felt, and magically expresses the complicated universe of human psychology and meditation in the modern age.
Manoukain has been cooperating with the MIRO Gallery in Berlin and Prague. Manoukians works can be found in numerous public and private collections in various countries.
