Biography | |
Weshon Hornsby was born on April 27, 1971 in Neptune, New Jersey where he lived for more than 30 years. In the winter of 2002 he relocated with his loving wife, 2 daughters and their 2 dogs to Newark, Delaware. Weshon is one of 20 children in his family. Although he always possessed a passion for the visual arts he didnt think he would be able obtain the resources to study professionally, so nearly 10 years ago in his spare time he began teaching himself how to paint and draw experimenting with various mediums and materials. When I first picked up a palette and began painting on a canvas, I realized what my true calling and passion in life was, states Weshon.
His theory about art is that each creation should be organic and convey the spirit of the artist at the moment when it is created. His undying passion to paint and draw has become an essential part of who he is as an individual. He generally paints things that have meaning in his life whether it is a still life of a plant, a scenic landscape, a cityscape, mountain scene, portrait of a person or animal or wildlife scene. Early in his career Weshon decided that his favorite mediums were oil paint and charcoal, but he doesnt want to limit himself so he continues to work with acrylics, oil pastels and watercolors from time to time.
Weshons full-time work in visual art began shortly after August of 2000 due to an unfortunate incident. While working as an electrical mechanic he suffered a severe back injury and had to undergo several major surgeries which prevented him from being able to work in the electrical field. Instead of allowing these circumstances to break his sprits he turned to his art, honing in on his skills and techniques. It wasnt long, before he realized that his art needed to be exposed to the masses and began showing some of his work locally receiving raved reviews and accolades from art collectors and his peers alike.
His commitment, drive and determination are sure to catapult his art career. He is currently exhibiting his works throughout the art community and have had works published by multi media companies. His works can be found in private collections, in printed publication, on various online and in physical art galleries. Most recently his work was published in the 2008 Harvests of New Millennium art journal, by Dr. Santosh Kumar and by Flashquake publishing as their featured artist for spring 2008. As an artist Weshon is invested in his craft, philanthropy, advocacy and business savvy which he feels are essential to achieving success. He is one of many artists involved in a major art project entitled Glory Of Horses which is a 20ft x 16ft panel mural which will tour around the country for 3 to 5 years before being placed on permanent exhibit. He is also a registered member of the ECVA Artists Registry of phoenix, AZ, a registered artist with MAP Maryland Art Place and MSAC Visual Artists Registry of Baltimore, MD, a member of the Equine Art Guild Saskatchewan, Canada, a registered member of Gallery Today online artist registry and an Art-quest.com top 10 featured artist . In addition, he has been commissioned to do work for Primates Incorporated, a non-profit organization that rescues and retires monkeys in a sanctuary and donated artwork for the 2008 Art Attack art auction, an event sponsored by Soroptimist International of Phoenix, which helps women in need. |
