Biography
Please feel free to check out my web site at: http://www.joyousfineartbycathe.com/ I was born in Manitoba Canada into an extremely creative home environment. As one of three girls we each were exposed to a wide range of creative outlets. As a youth art was chosen for my eldest sister and classical music was chosen for me. I excelled at music and earned my degree as a musical performer. I taught for many years. Although music brought great joy to me it always felt like something was missing. I was constantly exposed to the arts world. I loved to draw but put this creative outlet on the back burner until 2008 because my formal training was in music and I felt that this was the avenue to put the bulk of my energy into. In 2008 I moved to Mississippi and an explosion of creativity came out of me and an overwhelming passion to express myself on canvas emerged. Finally the missing piece arrived. I love to paint and it feels like this is what I was born to do. As a somewhat self taught artist I wanted to explore themes of happiness and joy. I wanted my paintings to uplift people. I love bright colors and unusual combinations. My world is a happy place of reality, fantasy, nostalgia, reality, dreams and a loving delight in nature and a genuine love of all of humanity.
