Biography
hi my name is Veronique Tangney. I was born in Belgium. I lived in Belgium for 8 years of my life as my parents were running fish factories they were always on the go so when I was 8 years of age my family and I moved to the Netherlands ie Holland. My new life began in a little village called URK where i first began my career in art. I started drawing with my mother when i was eight years of age as my grand father was also an artist he loved to draw cartoons from big to small. Joseph Martin was his name where my mother learned to draw from him and she learned me how to draw so i took a great interest in drawing. We moved to Ireland in 1975 to a little village in co kerry called camp there i started my big career in art. I joined up with the I.C.S in London where i done a cartoon course. This course learned me the basics and guided me to getting my certificate in 1980. I began my career by drawing different cartoons for childrens primary schools. The first school was a little primary school in annascaul just a few minutes from dingle in co kerry. There i met MRS Foley who was the princaple of the school where she set me two tasks first one was of a story of the seven dwarfs where i had to come up with my own version of the seven dwarfs using imagies only. This was quiet fun and very interesting in the end it came out very colourful and bright. The children were quiet pleased. The secound task i had to do was a little historic story about Tom Creen who was famous for going to the north poll and who was origannly from annascaul where this little primary school was set so i had to draw his life story of how he set out to the north poll by drawing imagies of his life in the kids playground to educate them about the local history. People were quiet pleased with the work and it also brings a lot of tourist to the area which is great for the community. I then went on to do a little further education with the Dublin City University where I learned how to do Landscape and more detailed cartoons. This gave me a lot more interest in landscape and looking at things in a dirrerent perpective.
