Biography
Cai Kui was born in Qingdao, China in 1955. He is currently a professor at the Fashion Design Department of Qingdao University; and also the art councilor at the Qingdao Oil Painting Academia. An excelled art student in his youth, he started his profession as an art designer as early as 1972. He worked as a teacher at the Art Department of Qingdao University after he graduated from there with a BA degree in 1984. He won the Silver Prize in Qingdao Portrait Painting Competition in 1978 and Gold Prize in Shandong Oil Painting Exhibition in 1979. Since 1984, he has been teaching art design and doing research. He has published many of his art works and art critiques in authoritative Chinese art magazines such as Famous Artists, Chinese Oil Painting and Zhuang Shi. He now lives in Clarington, Ontario and is a member of the Ontario Society of Artists. Mr. Cai Kui is famous for his use of colors and skillful brush-strokes.
