BIOGRAPHY
These beautiful paintings originated from a special artist Maia Vasilieva who was born in Moscow, Russia and currently resides in Miami, Florida since 1994.
At a very young age her parents introduced her to the great artistic treasures of the World Famous Museums in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Countless hours were spent at the magnificent Hermitage Museum and Tretyakov Gallery studying the works of great masters, the works of the post-impressionists, and those of the Russian Avant-Garde especially fascinated Maya. The palette of Matisse and Gauguin affected her interpretation of color, while Rodchenko and Malevich influenced her sense of balance and composition. She fell in love with the works of Shishkin and Repin. Her passion for art grew during that time.
After moving to Miami she furthered her artistic development. Maia always pays extra attention to all details. She creates realistic images with balance, harmony and connection to a higher spirit. Maia is an exquisite self-taught artist.
Maia Vasilieva graduated from The Stratford Career Institute in 2002 with honors in Interior Decorating and Design. She is currently working as an Interior Designer and a fine artist in South Florida. Maia Vasilieva paintings have been featured in many group exhibitions in South Florida, including the Art Fusion Gallery in Miami Design District, Sheer Gallery in Miami, and Art Gallery in Aventura and Karen Lynne Gallery in Boca Raton.

ARTIST STATEMENT
I feel as if I am the instrument through which the Spirit of life can be revealed on canvas. This is a wonderful gift which I treat with respect. I approach my work with feelings of reverence and gratitude. I trust the Divine mind within me to be my guide.
Using Art as a universal language without barriers gives me an opportunity to touch the soul in everyone. Art provides me with the gift to bring happiness, love, light, energy and renewal in every day life.
There is no such thing as an unimportant detail in my work; I always pay extra attention to all details, until a perfect balance is achieved. This process has contributed to my deeper understanding of color, design, form and composition.
My works speak my feelings of happiness. I love to paint, it feels great and I hope my art is a way to transfer this positive energy and wonderful feeling to others. I want to share the warmth of the afternoon, the freshness of summer morning, the delight of early snow, the aroma and beauty of the flowers with the viewer.
My goal is to give people a visual expression that lives, breathes and inspires. |
