My name is Danielle Burford and I am a Contemporary Indigenous Artist, local to the Mid North Coast of NSW, Australia.
I was born in Warrawong NSW and spent most of my childhood days growing up in the remote region of Bourke, which is situated in North Western NSW.
As a child I spent a lot of time in the bush and on the banks of the Darling River, fishing and catching frogs with my younger brother.
I attended St.Ignatious Primary School in Bourke, where on a regular basis we enjoyed sitting under a large tree at the front of the school whilst our Elders told us stories of the Dream Time. We also went on camps to local areas to learn our ancestors way of life. Mr Dixon was my teacher and it was he who first introduced me to the world of Aboriginal Art!
Although I am a Visual Artist, my one true love is my Contemporary Indigenous art, it takes me back to my roots, my Grandfather and ancestors before him, my home land is the Central and North Western area of NSW. My art reflects on everything that is Australian, from animals and trees to the red dirt and sky, using traditional colours and involving a range of tones to create depth.
I hope collectors and art lovers alike find their own meaning in my works, and appreciate the connection I feel through my painting, to a time long past but still strong within myself. |
