Christopher Paris – Painter

What interests me is regaining a sense of a timeless experience, through something which has change little over the last thousand years.  Seeking this continuity has taken me back to the landscape, and taken me back to using basic materials, cloth, board, oil, pigment. 

I believe that we are becoming over stimulated, and beginning to lose our awareness of the more subtle relationships with our-selves, each other and our environment.  Through inviting the viewer to stop and rest in the apparent simplicity of these paintings, I am attempting to enhance and regenerate this subtle awareness again, through giving permission for the mind to be quiet.

Biography

Chris graduated with BA (Hons) Fine Art  from John Moores University in Liverpool in 1986.  He has exhibited extensivly, and is gaining increasing recognition as a Landscape painter of excellence.

Because of his unique personal approach to the subject, his paintings never become pastische, whilst still acheiving and building upon the tradition of the great English landscape painters.
